Before you submit your resume, please consider the following:
- Ensure your resume is ONLY one page long – its recommended to meet with a career coach for an in-depth discussion for anything longer or shorter than a single full page. Check out our 26-minute webinar on Resume Writing for some helpful formatting and content tips.
- Also consider having 2-5 robust bullet points for each experience in your resume before submitting. Using a variety of action verbs can help you best emphasize your skills strongly. Check out our resume writing guide handout for insightful tips on bullet point formatting.
- Review our sample resumes to get a look at typical student resumes that meet general criteria and basic resume guidelines. Having a simple design that neatly organizes and very clearly highlights your experiences and education are is highly recommended. Check out this resume template from the UW Foster Career Services team if you need a downloadable template!
- Struggling with ATS? Interested in tailoring your resume to a specific role? Check out Jobscan! If your resume is robust and fairly finalized, then Jobscan could be a great resource to help you optimize your resume for different Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).

If you are looking for in-depth feedback, or if you are looking for resume feedback for an application that is something other than a job/internship, we strongly recommend that you meet with a career coach to get the best possible feedback. Please so not submit resumes for graduate/professional school applications as we recommend meeting with a career coach.
