The UW Career & Internship Center sponsors eight job and internship fairs per year, which breaks down to two per quarter—one with an in-person format, and one with a virtual format. These events may be in addition to job and internship fairs hosted by departments and colleges across campus. Job and internship fairs help Huskies connect with recruiters actively seeking interns, part-time help, and new college grads for a wide range of roles. Career fairs are typically a new experience for college students, so we’ve put together some resources to help you understand, prepare, and thrive!

How to prepare for an in-person career fair
In-person career fairs facilitate face-to-face interactions between employers who are interested in hiring for their open roles and students and alumni who are prospective candidates for those roles. Expect to interact with 5-10 employers in short, 2-3 minute introductory conversations that will allow you to express information about yourself, share your interest in the employer, and ask the employer questions. You can read more about what you can expect from in-person career fair events here.
How to prepare for a virtual career fair
Virtual career fairs presented by the UW Career & Internship Center are hosted on Handshake, which offers you the option to meet with employers in online group sessions as well as interview-style 1:1 sessions. You’ll sign up in advance of Fair Day for sessions that interest you, and log into those sessions on Fair Day to meet with employers. You can read more about what you can expect from virtual career fair events here.
