About UW-IT Reporting & Analytics
UW Information Technology (UW-IT) is the central IT organization for the University of Washington (UW), responsible for strategic planning, oversight, and direction of UW’s IT infrastructure, resources, and services. UW-IT provides critical technology support to all three campuses, UW medical centers, and research operations around the world.
The Reporting and Analytics (R&A) unit within UW-IT provides consistent and reliable architecture, guidelines, standards, tools, and services for data analysis through the design, modeling, management, delivery, and integration of institutional data. The Business Intelligence (BI) team within R&A provides data analysis and designs data models for the UW’s Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). Position Description
UW-IT is hiring a student intern to join R&A’s Engagement team. This position will support our ongoing efforts to help Finance data users navigate recent changes in UW’s Finance Reporting space.
The student intern will gain valuable experience working with a team of developers, engineers, and communicators to develop highly-requested resources that will have a huge impact for our users.
The student intern will work in a collaborative environment. Both technology and communications experts will mentor the student so they are successful, engaged, and proud of their work.
Duties and Responsibilities
This student intern will perform various tasks to support our operations, such as:
- Developing customer-facing materials (for example, FAQs and other wiki pages).
- Processing questions and answers from engagement events, such as weekly office hours and monthly webinars.
- Collaborating with Subject Matter Experts to ensure resources are complete and accurate.
- Performing other tasks, as needed, to support our users.
Requirements
- UW student in good standing.
- Comfortable working in a hybrid environment. Work will occur online using Zoom and other online collaboration tools, as well as in an office on the UW Seattle campus.
- Coursework or demonstrated interest in technical documentation, communications, and/or organizational change management.
- A commitment to valuing diversity, contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment, and working effectively with diverse populations of staff.
- Ability to work independently, and as a member of a team.
- Excellent communication skills. The content is technical in nature so we are looking for someone who can translate some technical data into words and concepts that are universally understandable.
