The Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Clinical Research Team within the Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine Division at the University of Washington Medical Center is seeking a part-time student assistant. This opportunity offers hands-on experience in clinical research, with a focus on working directly with patients. Our project is centered on promoting equity in clinical trial involvement, providing you with valuable insights and experience in research concerning diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Responsibilities will include:
- Screening electronic health records to identify eligible participants for studies
- Recruit and consent participants for research studies (i.e. cold calling, approaching patients during clinic visits, etc.)
- Conduct virtual, over the phone, or in person qualitative interviews with patients
- Assist with qualitative analysis of interview data
- Track and submit requests for participant compensation
- Administrative support tasks
Required Qualifications
- Full time, degree-seeking undergraduate with applicable research experience or graduate student
- Preferably in School of Public health, life sciences major, and/or Pre-Med track
- Preferably familiarity with qualitative research or ATLAS.ti software
- Knowledge of, or an aptitude and willingness to learn about, clinical research
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to serve as a positive and professional representative of the CF Research Team when communicating with patients and colleagues
- Strong oral and written communication skills of the English language

- Ability to work for the entire year in which hired, including summer quarter.
- Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters: Ability to work 5-10 hours per week.
- Summer Quarter: Opportunity to work >20 hours per week if not taking classes.
