NVSU Employment Specialist Intern
Minimum Time Commitment of three (3) quarters
Neurology Vocational Services Unit (NVSU) at Harborview is seeking a Paid Intern to work 12-20 hours per week -a hybrid position that may include remote work/ office work / fieldwork in the Seattle area with occasional work in the Tacoma or Everett areas.
Our preference is someone who’s working toward their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Disability Studies, Pre Med, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling and/or Social Services. The candidate should also be comfortable working with clients who have disabilities and with local employers and professionals from the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). Post training, the position requires the ability to function with some autonomy and flexibility.
Essential functions of the job:
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· Assisting clients with neurological disabilities with their job search
· Revising/ developing résumés and cover letters
· Online job applications
· Motivational interview practice
· Working with employers to set up job interviews and informational interviews
· Report writing
· Interacting with DVR rehabilitation counselors and other social service agencies
· Assisting with current NVSU projects
· Additional duties will include setting up volunteer sites, employer outreach and job coaching clients who have obtained employment
. Must be willing to commit to a minimum time commitment of 3 quarters (9 months)

This position’s headquarters is located just three blocks east of Harborview (and three blocks south of Swedish) at 401 Broadway and Jefferson Street. It pays $22 an hour to start and provides excellent clinical experience for those who are planning to pursue business, medical, human service careers and/or graduate study.
