The Department of Geography is searching for applicants to join the alternate pool for Geography Teaching Assistants in 2024-2025, in case any of our current teaching assistants must leave their positions for any reason. Alternates are not guaranteed a position, but will be notified if a position opens. Please do not reach out to the Department of Geography with inquiries.
General Duties/Description:
TAs will generally be responsible for preparing/grading tests, homework, and assignments, keeping student records, participating in TA meetings, attending course lectures, and collaborating with the supervisor and other TAs.
Requirements:
Must be enrolled in at least 10 credits and be pursuing an MA or PhD at University of Washington.
Salary*:
The monthly pay rate for a Teaching Assistant paid at 50% FTE on Schedule 1 or Schedule 3 is $2,664 at the premaster level; $2,863 at the intermediate level; and $3,076 at the candidate level. Benefits: This appointment carries a waiver of quarterly tuition fees, building fees, U-PASS fees, and technology fees. This position would be eligible to receive UW paid medical, dental, and vision coverage through the Graduate Appointee Insurance Program (GAIP).
*There are expected union negotiations that will likely result in an increase of the salary listed above.
