- Diagnosis and treatment:
- Performs comprehensive dental evaluations using history, oral examination, and radiographs to determine appropriate treatment plan for each patient.
- Provides appropriate treatment and restoration for each patient in accordance with the documented treatment plan.
- Counsels patients and/or family in oral health related matters.
- Initiates referrals to appropriate specialist and programs.
- Appropriately responds to urgent/emergency dental situations.
- Participates in on-call rotation and responsibilities.
2. Documentation:
- Ensures appropriate charting is completed for each patient using electronic dental records. Documents patient visits according to CHC policy, federal, and state regulations.
- Appropriate coding is applied for patient visits and each procedure that is performed.
- Completes monthly Peer Audits in a timely manner.
3. Clinical Operations:
- Oversees clinical activities of dental staff to include dental assistant(s) and hygienist(s).
- Follows appropriate sterilization and infection control standards.
- Equipment and operatory are maintained in accordance with ADA and OSHA guidelines.
- Assists with the orientation of clinical dental staff.
- Provides input in the performance evaluation of clinical staff.
4. Quality Improvement:
- Provides input regarding the performance improvement and satisfactorily meets stated clinical measurements to include productivity.
- Completes monthly Peer Audits in a timely manner.
5. Patient Satisfaction:
- Supports the regular monitoring of patient satisfaction through an annual survey process.
- Assists in addressing patient concerns and complaints as identified in the annual survey and on a day-to-day basis.
- Builds good rapport with patients.
6. Confidentiality
- Maintains strict confidentiality and follows federal, state and facility regulations in this regard.
7. Communication Skills
- Demonstrates tact, courtesy, and a positive approach to communication and interaction with patients, employees, and others.
- Promotes a positive customer service atmosphere.
- Assist with investigation of patient complaints, and where appropriate, makes recommendations.
- Participates in clinical staff meetings.

- Attends continuing education events as required/requested.
