The MS in Clinical Exercise Physiology program will provide students with a strong advanced and applied knowledge of physiology with practical skills that will transfer to the clinical setting, while also helping students build their clinical and research networks to pursue further clinical experience and employment. This 1-year program at the University of Denver incorporates advanced physiology and biomedical sciences courses in addition to clinical hours for students to gain applied clinical and research experience. We have a new physiology laboratory that combines methods for research and application of concepts learned for both clinical and performance populations with support from our in-house experts. Clinical internships are arranged by DU faculty but are mentored off-campus by the larger Denver community of health professionals.

The program prepares students for clinical and research careers in hospitals, research centers, or health and wellness centers, especially the areas of cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, diabetes prevention, cancer prevention and rehabilitation, obesity prevention and treatment, and other related careers. Graduates could also pursue positions working with both amateur and professional athletes who aspire to improve their performance. Furthermore, this program provides an excellent foundation for doctoral work in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other related disciplines or in preparation for medical school.
