The ReConnect Fellowship is a program provided by the Area Health Education Center of Southwest Oregon, designed for pre-health college graduates facing a gap-year while applying to medical school or physician assistant programs. Fellows are employed full-time as medical scribes and/or medical assistants in Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers or Rural Health Centers. These centers are family practice clinics who provide care for patients in a medically underserved area.
The ReConnect Fellowship is more than just working in a clinic. Fellows come together as a cohort of individuals who are all in similar places in their journey to becoming a healthcare provider. In addition to full-time employment in a clinic, ReConnect Fellows gather outside of work hours for social dinners, professional learning opportunities, and to receive mentorship and support in the medical or PA school application cycle.

The application deadline for 2024 Fellows is March 29, 2024. Applications received after the deadline will be considered, but prioritized below applications submitted prior to the deadline. Applicants will be interviewed via Zoom in early April and selections will be made by April 15, 2024. Further application instructions can be found on the ReConnect Fellowship website.
