Synapse “I Love My Brain” panel and call for board members

Synapse at the UW is a student-led brain injury support group. They host support groups and social events for individuals with brain injuries in the Seattle area, in addition to educational workshops with professional partners. Student members are an integral part of the organization, and can get involved in events as well as their Buddy Program, which pairs a TBI member with an undergraduate student. The club offers students interested in careers in healthcare, social work, or neuroscience an opportunity to work closely with this under-served community and experience interacting with this vulnerable population outside of a clinical setting.

They are hosting the “I Love My Brain” spring virtual panel  Sunday, April 17th at 9:00am PST

The Zoom link for the panel will be: tinyurl.com/ilovemybrain

Two of their brain injury members, Cinda Lium and Robert Pezely, will be speaking on their brain injury experiences and sharing their unique stories.

This panel seeks to foster a safe space to amplify one another’s voices and recognize collective strength as a community.

Additionally, applications are now open for next year’s executive board. Members of the executive board are responsible for various aspects of club logistics and planning of meetings, events, and panels. They are actively recruiting for the following positions:

  • VP of Peer Support
  • VP of Buddy Program
  • VP of Events
