Virtual recruiting at UW-Seattle during Spring 2020

While no on-campus recruiting activities will be taking place during Spring Quarter 2020, the University of Washington Career & Internship Center is open and operating on a fully-remote basis, and our team is happy to support you with continued opportunities to interact with job and internship-seeking UW candidates.

We’ll be regularly updating our Career & Internship Center Covid-19 FAQ’s page to do our best to support you as we all navigate these uncertain times.

We’d love to hear from you about how your Spring 2020 hiring plans and Summer 2020 start-dates are being impacted, so we can best support you and advise our students! We have a quick 4-question survey here.

Read on for details on opportunities to connect:

  • Virtual Career Fair: We’re hosting a tri-campus University of Washington Virtual Job & Internship Fair on May 13th. For more details and to submit an online registration, please click here. Please do note that space is limited, and employers with active hiring needs will be prioritized.
  • Handshake: Use it to post specific hiring needs geared towards UW Seattle and UW Bothell students and recent alums, and consider maximizing its functionality to support your virtual recruitment efforts.
  • Virtual Candidate Resume Books: We’ve created a series of virtual resume books to support our job and internship-seeking candidates to connect with hiring employers. To learn more about accessing this resource, please email handshake@uw.edu.
  • Hosting Virtual Interviews: Handshake’s “Room Only” on-campus interview option can be used to promote interviews.
    • With “Room Only,” the interview schedule will be created by your team outside of Handshake.
      • Some employers use their own applicant tracking system while others find success in external scheduling programs, such as Calendly.com.
    • No fees for virtual interviews
  • Virtual InfoSessions:  Connect with students online to maintain brand presence on campus, share hiring needs and connect in groups or 1:1 with interested candidates.
    • Handshake can be utilized as normal.
      • Rather than selecting “On-Campus” as the format, select “Virtual”.
      • Description should include what student population the virtual event is geared toward, or what positions/functions will be discussed.
      • Virtual event requests will be reviewed and approved by C&IC, but beyond that, the employer is free to manage the event however they like.
    • Virtual event ideas
      • Host a virtual InfoSession to discuss opportunities and provide time for Q&A
      • Host a webinar to support student development of soft or technical skills
      • Host a virtual company tour
