Understanding Work Study Eligibility

Some on-campus student position descriptions will state that applicants must be “work study eligible.” This refers to a specific type of financial aid awarded to students by the state or federal government.

Some departments restrict applicants to students who are work study eligible because the government covers some of the students’ wages, which decreases how much departments pay to host student employees.

If you know you are were awarded Work Study in your financial aid package, you should visit the Work Study website because all work study jobs must be posted there.

If you do not know whether you have a Work Study award, please review all financial aid emails you may have received. You may also connect with the Work Study Office. The Career & Internship Center does NOT have access to this information.

If you know you do NOT have a Work Study Award, please do not apply for positions that specifically state work study eligibility as a requirement.
