When in Doubt, Reach Out to Your Professors
The size of UW can be very intimidating. I found they could feel very impersonal and daunting. However, as you move into higher-level classes and they shrink in size, your professors and the classes themselves become more intimate and less daunting. Your professors truly do care for you and often have the advice and answers you are looking for – even outside of class material. When I was lost on my next steps after UW, I reached out to my professor, hoping for help. She advocated for me, inspired me, and raised my level of confidence to be able to apply to graduate school – it would not have been done without her. When in doubt, reach out to your professors. They were once in your shoes! Currently, I am in a funded research program where I will be studying the ocean and traveling to Bermuda all because of her, and many other professors’, inspiration and advice.
