When I was a student, I was able to advance my education outside of the classroom in a number of ways. I knew I wanted to work in creative media, so I was able to participate in a PR Mentorship Program held by the Communication Department over the summer, two internships in social media & design that I found through Handshake, and be a PR lead for the Filipino American Student Association (FASA). I know it can be disappointing when certain opportunities are unpaid or require you to volunteer your time and skills; but taking advantage of these opportunities early in your career really help you build a foundation of experience that elevates your resume, interviewing, and approach to future employment. There are lots of great opportunities at UW waiting for a student like you!
