Take advantage of the connections you have and make during your education and beyond. My entire graduate admission can be traced back to a casual conversation with my Uncle that lead me through Boeing to NASA then back to UW for the lab I conducted research for during undergrad. That same lab is now where I am pursuing my PhD, so you never know how important those casual connections may end up being to your carear path and life overall. Go out and ask, it may end up becoming the best thing you ever did for yourself.
