Student Organizations

The SACNAS UW Chapter was founded in 2007 and consists of undergraduate, graduate, post-docs, faculty and staff from various scientific disciplines across campus. SACNAS UW Chapter focuses on academic and community outreach at college and K-12 levels. SACNAS UW is very dedicated to academic outreach and excellence, and has thus been nationally recognized. Awards include: Chapter of the Year (3), Role Model Chapter (1) and Distinguished Chapter (1).

Each year, our members attend the SACNAS National Conference, which is held at a different location within the U.S. Members are encouraged to submit poster and oral presentation abstracts, for each conference. The most recent SACNAS National Conferences were held in Honolulu, Hawai’i in Fall 2019, and then virtually in Fall 2020,  drawing attention to URM recruitment/retention and development.

Follow us on Twitter and Facebook for information about our upcoming chapter meetings and events!

The Division of Student Life acknowledges the Coast Salish people of this land, the land which touches the shared waters of all tribes and bands within the Suquamish, Tulalip, and Muckleshoot Nations. Student Life is committed to developing and maintaining an inclusive climate that honors the diverse array of students, faculty, and staff. We strive to provide pathways for success and to purposefully confront and dismantle existing physical, social, and psychological barriers for minoritized students and communities. We engage in this work while learning and demonstrating cultural humility.
