The Policy and Business of Medicine Society (PBMS) aims to help aspiring healthcare professionals understand the current state of medicine from both a public policy and business perspective–two entities that are inseparable in today’s dynamic healthcare landscape. The exposure gained through membership will help future professionals in the following areas: Understanding the physician’s/healthcare worker’s role in policy change; Identifying the role of providers in cost management that can lead to a more efficient practice and healthcare system; Understanding the various medical practice settings ranging from academic hospital based employment to individual private practice; Introduction to the business skills essential to successful medical practice.
