Job Description
– Working with the Student Engagement Network (WA-SEN) Advisors, recruit a diverse group of student leaders (especially undergraduates) to engage with legislators in the district and in Olympia during the session.
– Visits campuses (virtually and in-person) within assigned region to facilitate and organize training, recruitment drives and tabling.
– Assist Advisors in leading and developing students, including in-person and online meetings.
– Identify student liaisons and future interns in assigned region.
– Serve as point of contact for in-district appointments with legislators and WA-SEN activities.
– Mobilize students to educate state legislators about the importance of financial aid and higher education attainment goals in Washington. Self-directed engagement projects are encouraged! The Student Engagement Advisors are available to coach and provide opportunities.
– Participate in Summer/Fall Training in person.
– Plan & Attend virtual Fall Conference in October/November (exact dates TBD).
– Attend and support Student Engagement Days in Olympia (exact dates TBD – late Jan-March).
– Participate in additional programming as identified.
– Attend weekly scheduled team meetings.
– Write a final report on what worked well, areas of opportunity, and program feedback.
Qualifications
– Strong commitment to the mission and vision of WA-SEN.
– Enthusiasm about helping students attend college and complete a degree regardless of financial circumstance.
– Ability to recruit and work with diverse students (age, veterans, race/ethnicity, etc.).
– Great communication skills.
– Ability to work autonomously, excellent organization and time management skills.
– Access to transportation for campus and legislative visits.
– Washington College Grant or federal Pell Grant recipient a plus, but not required.
– Washington State Work Study eligible students encouraged to apply.

There are five regions currently identified for the 2024-25 academic year, with one opening per region except where noted otherwise. To meet the minimum requirements of a WA-SEN student position, interested students should apply to the region where they are attending college.
