Great for Internships Positions Expires February 21, 2023

WSDOT is currently seeking a summer intern to support the WSF Terminal Movable bridge inspection program. This unique opportunity is for currently enrolled students looking to apply their classroom training to real-world scenarios. The Mechanical/Electrical Engineer internships provide the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the practical application of engineering procedures, concepts, and techniques in an on-the-job environment. This position will assist our Terminal Engineering Mechanical/Electrical Engineers to compile the various condition reports, document terminal lighting levels, assist in arc flash studies, hydraulic, and cable systems, and check quantities. This position will assist in the field by recording the condition with the mechanical and electrical engineers and help to compile the reports. While in the field, you will work alongside both engineers and craftspeople who maintain the bridges in operating conditions. This type of inspection helps to create a dialogue between maintenance and engineering about problems that impact the bridge’s operation. Additional work will include assisting in the investigation and looking through as-built records for design solutions for what is found during the inspections. You will also be involved in using various software programs used to analyze the data gathered in the field.
