Washington CAN! is a grassroots community organization with over 44,000 members in WA States. Washington CAN! is currently working on several issue-based campaigns: Universal Healthcare, Mass Liberation (re-frame of mass incarceration), Housing Justice, and further democratizing our institutions, legal processes, boards, laws, etc.
Position Description:
Community Outreach Team Members engage with community members to educate, motivate and activate people to become more engaged with the democratic process in order to affect policy and elections – in this case gathering signatures for a Workers Bill of Rights initiative.
Community Engagement Team Members are often the first touch people have with our organization, and thus convey information to new and existing members about our mission, vision, values, and overall work on issues like Healthcare, Mass Liberation, Housing, Reproductive Justice, and Gender, Racial, and Economic Justice. Field Organizers will work on voter registration and getting out the vote to elect politicians that reflect the mission of Washington CAN! From the Presidential ticket and other down ballot races.
The Community Engagement Team Member position is full-time or part-time. Pay starts with trainee pay which lasts 2-4 weeks at $23.15 per hour. Once training is completed the position transitions to staff at 23.71 per hour.

Transportation is not required but is preferred.
