The Center for Health and the Global Environment (CHanGE) has a great opportunity for a part-time student assistant to support the Center’s administrative and operational activities. Job duties include administrative tasks such as preparing publication references and assisting with grant-related activities, as well as operational and communications tasks including scheduling, blog writing, updating the Center’s website and social media platforms, monitoring email communications, and performing other duties as required. This position will be supervised by the Center Director and Program Manager, and will support other faculty involved with CHanGE as well. We are looking for someone who can work independently as well as under direction, who is organized (and likes to organize!), who has good communication and interpersonal skills, and who is flexible and adaptable. Our projects and work cover a large area of research topics and there is ample opportunity to learn and expand your interests.
This position is part-time (19.5 hours/week) with a pay range between $21.30 – $22.00/hour depending on experience. Students must be enrolled in at least 6 credits in order to hold an hourly position. The position will begin at the start of Autumn quarter and will last through the end of the 26-27 academic year, with the potential to extend through the summer and into the 27-28 academic year if appropriate. FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION 25%
- Data entry into Excel/Google spreadsheets
- Support faculty with document editing, referencing, and other administrative support needs
- Organize document archives (digital)
- Support in researching, identifying, and tracking relevant grant and funding opportunities
OPERATIONS & COMMUNICATION 75%
- Schedule meetings, attend and take notes where needed
- Synthesize meeting discussions and project milestones into clear, actionable summaries for various stakeholders
- Manage end-to-end blog operations, including interviewing professionals for feature stories, planning and writing content, incorporating editorial feedback, and publishing final articles
- Monitor CHanGE email inbox and coordinate newsletter distributions to listservs
- Execute workflows by adhering to SOPs and contributing to continuous process improvement
- Update and share notable items on social media platforms regularly (Instagram, LinkedIn)
- Update website materials as needed (certificate information, upcoming courses, upcoming events, relevant news, etc.)
- Support other communications and event planning tasks, including attending events
- Perform related duties as required
REQUIRED
- Knowledgeable with Microsoft (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint), Google Drive (Docs, Sheets, sharing), Zoom, Canva, and reference managers (Zotero, Paperpile)
- Student is available to work 19.5 hours/week (during the weekdays)
