UW/Fred Hutch Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) EDI/TRS Student Assistant
Duties and Responsibilities:
The UW/Fred Hutch Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) is located in the UW Department of Global Health and the UW Schools of Public Health and Medicine. CFAR engages some of the world’s most eminent HIV/AIDS researchers and educators in pursuit of its mission to foster collaborative and interdisciplinary research, support HIV research career development of junior investigators, and serve HIV investigators at affiliated institutions. CFAR staff support a diverse body of professionals and facilitate their access to project funding and collaborations, research infrastructure and services, leadership opportunities, career development programs and services, and continuing education. The CFAR is hiring a student assistant to join its staff and perform the following functions in support of the CFAR Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and the CFAR Translational Research Subcore:
Program Coordination and Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative assistance to the Director of EDI, including scheduling meetings.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of EDI programs and activities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to integrate EDI principles into existing processes and practices.
- Assist in preparing presentations, reports, and documents related to EDI programs and initiatives.
Data and Reporting:
- Track progress on EDI metrics and key performance indicators and identify areas for improvement.
- Assist in preparing data for EDI-related surveys and assessments.
Communication and Outreach:
- Assist in drafting EDI-related communications
- Coordinate internal and external communications to promote EDI initiatives.
- Assist in organizing and participating in community outreach and engagement events.
- Assist with improving the organization’s EDI web presence and social media engagement.
Research Team Support:
- Assist with administrative tasks including scanning of consent documents, working in REDCap
- Scheduling and conducting outreach to study participants
- Serving as a focus group discussant leader for a qualitative study
Minimum Qualifications:
- Available to work up to 10 hours per week through Spring Quarter 2025; possible option for increased hours during the summer of June 2025 through August 2025
- Typical office hours are Monday-Friday between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm; student may negotiate a work schedule that works around their class schedule
- Full-time undergraduate student or Master’s student
- Task-driven and detail-oriented
- Reliable, punctual and able to meet deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
Desired Qualifications:
- Fluent in Vietnamese or Spanish
- Experience working in an office setting and knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experience in a EDI-related role or program.
- Experience with communications work, including web editing and social media.
- Experience with community engagement or student organizations.
