GRAPHIC DESIGN ASSISTANT (15-19 HOURS PER WEEK)

POSITION SUMMARY
The Graphic Design Assistant is an entry-level position responsible for assisting the Graphics Specialist in producing visual components representing the Meany Center brand and programs. The position reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications and serves in a cross-functional role that supports all Meany Center departments. The Graphic Design Assistant’s work will contribute to meeting ticket revenue, attendance, donation, education and patron experience goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the marketing team in the creation of marketing communications and promotional materials
- Assist with the production of print collateral (posters, postcards, flyers, signage) and digital graphics (website and email heroes, digital advertising and social posts, stories and reels, etc.)
- Learn and assist with editing videos
- Archive photography, digital assets and printed materials
- Mount and hang signage and displays
- Distribute marketing materials across campus
- Manage assigned production projects in the Basecamp project management system
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of training in graphic design
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Able to work with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Doc applications
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Great listening skills and ability to collaborate
- Ability to manage production schedules and meet deadlines
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with and respect for a diverse environment, inclusive of artists, students, faculty and staff of many social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial and ethnic background
- Knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro and Acrobat
- Interest in photography
- An appreciation and knowledge of the performing arts
EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS
This is an entry-level position that can be adapted as an internship for course credit. In this role, you will gain valuable knowledge about how creative and collaborative teams work to execute designs in a fast-paced environment. You will hone your production and design software skills, while gaining hands-on experience working within established brand guidelines. By the end of the employment period, you will have a portfolio of real-world examples of your work and skills that are transferable to full-time positions in the design field.
COMPENSATION
$21.50 per hour; minimum of 15 hours a week to maximum of 19 hours a week
