Position Description
This position will support the website development and maintenance for two different grant-funded projects hosted in the iSchool: The projects, EMPOWERING INFORMED COMMUNITIES (EIC) and This Site is Fake, both focus on developing and disseminating resources for library workers to use in helping community members navigate today’s complex information environment. We are seeking a student with intermediate or above WordPress skills and experience to assist with web site creation, maintenance, and content creation for the projects.
Responsibilities will include the following duties:
- Work with two teams to create two responsive and user-friendly WordPress websites based on team specifications. This includes the creation or customization of WordPress templates and plug-ins.
- Convert Figma designs into a fully functional WordPress site.
- Work with researchers to develop, test, and iterate on new user interfaces
- Manage the website’s design and functionality in WordPress, to ensure that it is accessible and offers a positive user experience.
- Ensure website meets accessibility standards
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate student at the University of Washington
- Must be reliable, punctual, conscientious and exhibit a strong work ethic
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Professional and positive manner
- Ability to work well both independently and as a member of a small team
- Microsoft Office proficient
- With intermediate or above WordPress skills
Compensation:
$20.60 – 22.05 per hour
