Student Support Staff
We are hiring for immediate employment! Employment is part-time throughout the academic year with some summer hours available, and is open to any UW student. Student can also be offered break hours as desired to organize studios for the quarter. Assist the Dean’s Office with routine building cleanup of Architecture and Gould Halls as well as support other student computing staff in the computer lab.
Routine College Facilities Maintenance
- Check public areas weekly for furniture migration
- Assist with studio clean up and quarterly preparation
- Assist with office vacancy clean out
- Miscellaneous tasks like pinning up posters, etc.
- Reorganize storage
- Assist with surplus
Routine College Computing Maintenance
- Check paper/toner in Pharos (Dawg Prints) printer [daily]
- Check plotter maintenance cartridge [weekly]
- Clean up Commons and Commons Classroom as necessary [daily]
- Assist with lab reimaging [quarterly, and as needed]
Digital Commons Help Desk Support
- Provide first line tech support for drop-ins, and for questions arriving via phone and email, redirect as appropriate
- Sell plots, replace plotter paper/ink/print heads as necessary
- Transfer funds from student Husky Card accounts to Archnet accounts as requested by students
- Hand out faculty/staff loaner equipment per online calendar (using own judgment in emergencies)
- Handle packaging, paperwork, phone calls for equipment returns and repairs (RMAs)
On-site Work [includes Commons workstations & Classroom]
- Install/move equipment
- Replace toner as requested in departmental printers
Additional Projects As Able [qualifications preferred but not required-could also include…]
- Assist with 3D printer workflow development
- Troubleshoot/modify equipment (e.g. add RAM)
- Assist with other CBE Computing development projects
- Provide on-site user assistance
- Receive new software/hardware, process, add to inventory and deploy per email
- Maintain online software/hardware inventory
- Modify online calendar as needed
- Students with design and other computer skills could assist in flyer and signage production
Salary is Seattle minimum wage. Regular quarterly hours during academic year up to 19.5 hours with the opportunity to work up to 40 hours on breaks or summer quarter.
