By working at the interphase of gene expression regulation and neuroscience, we study how chromosome organization and RNA processing mechanisms generate enough cell surface diversity required for neurons to self-recognize as they assemble into neural circuits.
Basic job requirements:
- Molecular biology: RNA and DNA extractions, cloning, library preparation for next- generation sequencing, real-time PCR, DNA sequencing analysis, immunoblotting, site-directed mutagenesis, and western blotting
- Cell Culture: maintenance of cell lines and performing in vitro cell based assays
- Maintenance of mouse colonies: basic mouse husbandry including breeding, weaning, genotyping, maintaining a mouse inventory and regular monitoring of
- health statuses of mice
