The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of Inspector General, Office of Evaluation and Inspections (OEI) is seeking applicants to join our division of quality assurance. OEI conducts national evaluations of the policies, procedures, and operations of HHS programs to provide HHS, Congress, and the public with timely, useful, and reliable information on significant issues. These evaluations focus on preventing fraud, waste, and abuse; promoting quality, safety, and value; and advancing excellence and innovation in HHS programs such as Medicare and Medicaid and in HHS agencies such as CDC, NIH, and FDA.

OEI evaluations include recommendations to HHS to improve program operations.

The selected candidate for the Quality Assurance Specialist position will assist with high-profile initiatives such as establishing policies and procedures to help ensure the quality of OEI’s products, setting the annual training agenda for OEI, implementing internal quality control measures, preparing OEI for being peer reviewed and leading OEI’s peer reviews of other Offices of Inspector General, modernizing the OEI Intranet and report format, and streamlining the OEI report review and distribution process. The incumbent will independently identify vulnerabilities and potential improvements in policies and processes, quality, timeliness, and management information, and then provide recommendations to leadership in the division of quality assurance to address those issues.

This job announcement pertains to a full-time remote vacancy at the GS-13 level. The vacancy will be posted on USAJobs.gov on August 5, 2022. A bachelor’s degree in a behavioral or social science field, or four years equivalent experience, is required; a master’s degree or relevant experience conducting or presenting social science research or analyzing data is preferred. U.S. citizenship is required.
