International Student Services (ISS) on the Seattle campus is looking for a Student Assistant to join our team. This role focuses on enhancing our communication strategies to better engage with our diverse community of F-1 and J-1 international students. The ideal candidate will support various communication initiatives, including content creation, social media management, and email campaigns. This role reports to the Assistant Director of Student Services and Compliance.
Responsibilities
- Assist in creating and editing content for newsletters, website updates, blog posts, social media posts, and other communication materials.
- Manage and schedule posts on ISS social media platforms to engage and inform students about important F-1 and J-1 deadlines, events, and services.
- Support the development of email campaigns to effectively communicate key information to the F-1 and J-1 international student community.
- Help maintain and update the ISS website with current information, ensuring content is accessible and relevant.
- Assist with designing flyers, graphics, and other visual content for ISS events and initiatives.
- Participate in team meetings and provide input on communication strategies and content development.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a currently enrolled UW student on the Seattle campus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience with video editing software such (e.g., ClipChamp) is preferred.
- Experience with basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) is preferred.
- Experience working with or interest in international student services is a plus.
Work Schedule:
- Flexible hours (Mon – Fri only), starting with about 10 hours per week.
- In person and remote hours expected
