Regional Subject Matter Experts Needed

The Entertainment and Enrichment Department of Holland America Line is responsible for providing onboard entertainment, programs and activities for guests. Within this department is Explorations Central (EXC), HAL's multifaceted destination programming initiative.
We've created an innovative and customized approach to cruising, specifically aimed at seasoned travelers who are curious, thoughtful and eager to find new ways to see and understand the world. EXC In-Depthâ„¢ Voyages will enable guests to explore the most fascinating corners of the globe through the prism of their own personal interests and passions.
Each voyage offers a choice of six different options or 'themes' for an in-depth exploration of the people, places and cultures of the itinerary, including:

â— Food, Wine & Spirits
â— History & Perspective
â— Active Exploration
â— Arts & Culture
Guests can choose one theme throughout the journey, or sample activities from different themes.
These journeys will be guided by Regional Subject Matter Experts and will take place from September 2018 to May 2019.
Regional Subject Matter Experts: Arts & Culture / History & Perspective
Now recruiting for these regions:
â— Panama Canal
â— South America
â— South Pacific
â— New Zealand
â— Southeast Asia
â— Develop and deliver informative and entertaining presentations or workshops to audiences of all sizes in formal and informal venues, 1-2 times per day.
â— Engage with guests during social activities which may include cocktail parties, dinners, etc.
â— Work with onboard EXC Guides to provide guests with regional information and recommendations tailored to their interests
The Regional Subject Matter Experts will have extensive knowledge of the history, culture and arts of their region and should be an experienced public speaker.
â— A passion for the region of the itinerary, ideally through extensive travel, long-term residence or extensive study
â— An adventurous spirit and outgoing personality
â— A related degree, advanced degree, completed or in progress, or equivalent
â— The ability and desire to travel internationally and live aboard a ship for a minimum of 14 days
â— The ability to work every day you are onboard, including weekends and holidays
