Job Title: Community Outreach Worker
Profile Summary: The Community Outreach Worker role is designed to serve as a liaison between public health departments and local communities. The ideal candidate will engage with community members, assess their needs, and foster relationships with various organizations.
Responsibilities:
- Relationship Building: Establish and maintain connections with community members and organizations, including schools.
- Engagement: Participate in community education and service initiatives, facilitating listening sessions and summarizing findings.
- Cultural Presentation: Present information in a culturally sensitive manner at community meetings.
- Needs Assessment: Identify community needs and resources to address them.
- Communication: Relay community needs to the health department and partners.
- Data Management: Collect and maintain administrative and community data in accordance with health department policies.
- Partnership Development: Strengthen partnerships with government departments and community organizations.
- Community Events: Attend community events, including those after hours and on weekends.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., social work, psychology, public health, behavioral health, public policy).
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in community outreach or related fields. Experience with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Faith-Based Organizations, or governmental agencies is a plus.

- Excellent listening and communication skills.
- Ability to establish trust and understand community challenges.
- Empathetic communication style.
- Data entry experience.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of public health programs.
- Bilingual abilities (English and Spanish or other languages).
- Familiarity with COVID-19 initiatives.
- Experience in multicultural settings.
