In past years, this event has been a great success for both districts and students. This year, districts will have the opportunity to meet approximately 80 graduate speech-language pathology students, many AuD students, along with many undergraduates and postbacs. Past participants have hired new SLP graduates and SLPAs as a result of this fair.
Each year two Public Schools Scholarships are awarded to two outstanding graduate SLP students who are committed to serving in public schools. The scholarship itself is seen as a motivator for students to enter public school work, and so by supporting this event, districts in essence, are nurturing their hiring pool by attending this fair.
There will be three hours of mingling time with students of all levels and interest areas. In addition, interested districts will be set up with interviews (as formal as you want them to be) with 2nd year graduate SLP students, and potentially AuD students, who are interested in public school work.
The registration for this event is $500 per district. Each district will get a table for display and may bring 2-3 representatives. Having a working SLP from your district at your table is highly recommended. Lunch for up to two people per table is included in your registration fee. Additional lunches can be purchased for $15 each.
