Conventional Majors

Conventional majors prepare individuals for Conventional occupations.

  • Description: includes office and clerical occupations
  • Skills: clerical skills and skill in meeting precise standards for performance
  • Activities: may be highly structured and involve working with things, numbers, or machines to meet specific standards

The three-letter Holland code briefly summarizes what a major is like by showing its degrees of resemblance to three occupation groups. The first letter is the highest level of resemblance.

Note: Accounting is the only major at UW with a strong resemblance to Conventional occupations. However, consider these other majors that do have some resemblance to this type.
