Career Coach

Dan Poux (He/Him)

As a Pre-professional Career Coach, I am excited to be a resource and partner as students explore careers in health and law, build their leadership skills and prepare to apply to professional graduate programs.

I grew up in the city of Detroit, and attended the University of Michigan, a large public research university similar in many ways to UW. While there, I studied Political Psychology and wrote for the Michigan Daily newspaper.  My career path has taken many turns along the way, from volunteering at an orphanage in Honduras to teaching ESL in an under-resourced elementary school in Washington, DC as a Teach for America corps member.  Before coming to UW, I directed the Ready, Set Transfer! program at the Seattle Community Colleges, helping students transfer to universities to continue their studies in Science and Engineering.  Throughout these experiences, I have learned more about what I like to do and what I am good at, so that I could seek out new opportunities that combined both of these things.

I am excited to be helping UW students identify and play to their strengths, while confirming that their chosen career path is a good fit with their skills and interests.
