Below are several opportunities available through the UW School of Pharmacy that are geared towards UW undergraduates.
Pharmaceutical Sciences Minor
This summer, we launched the Pharmaceutical Sciences Minor, a multidisciplinary program that helps students understand how medications are discovered, developed, delivered, and used to improve health. The minor provides foundational coursework in medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, and health economics/outcomes research and is designed to complement majors across the sciences, engineering, public health, and pre-health pathways.
Autumn 2026 Courses
At the time of this message, we have spots in a few School of Pharmacy courses:
- PHARM 301 Medications and Health: It’s Not All About Drugs (3)
Explore how medications fit into overall health and healthcare. Learn about drug development, how medications work, and careers in health sciences—especially pharmacy. - PHRMSC 313 Drug Disposition and Delivery (3) << core course for the minor
Introduction to how drugs are formulated, delivered, and move through the body. Covers key concepts in pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical sciences.
- NEW PHRMSC 330 Intro Health Economics (3)
Applies microeconomic tools to understand the structure and failures of US healthcare markets, covering health insurance design, provider incentives, pharmaceutical pricing, and the policy debates shaping American healthcare today.
- PHRMSC 452 Biotechnology and Biopharmaceuticals (2)
Current topics in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology focusing on transforming small molecules, proteins, and genes into therapeutic products.
UW Future Pharmacist Program
Students exploring pharmacy or healthcare careers may also be interested in the UW Future Pharmacist Program, which helps undergraduates learn about pharmacy career pathways, connect with peers and professionals, and build a stronger understanding of the profession before applying to pharmacy school.
UW students from all majors and class standings who are considering healthcare careers are welcome to join the group by completing the form on our website.
