The HCCP Program help prepare students from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue educational and career pathways in a healthcare setting with a strong partnership with the Health Career Ecosystem. We do this by removing barriers by offering cost-free courses to students, connecting students to caring healthcare mentors and providing experiences required for competitive health profession applications.
Here are some key takeaways about the programs we offer:
- Open to any WA student who is interested in a healthcare career (Allied Health, Pre-Med, Pre-Dentistry, Public Health, Health Informatics etc.)
- Ideal for students who are entering their junior year of a Pre-Health program
- Virtual Rounds: Introductory online-synchronous course to learn about Racial Health Equity in Medicine and each week a different presenter will share their personal journey into their healthcare profession (all are welcome)
- Shadowing, Mentoring and Kaplan’s iHuman: highly rewarding experiential courses that are ideal for students in their junior year of college. (pre-requisite for these courses is Virtual Rounds)
