Designed for pre-med and undecided students, Kaiser’s programs give students opportunities to explore careers in medicine, challenge common myths about health care, and connect with medical providers. With a focus on supporting future health leaders, our virtual sessions place a strong emphasis on racial health equity.
New students will start with the Virtual Rounds class, with opportunities to build on their learning through additional courses. Students who’ve already completed Virtual Rounds can pick up where they left off and continue exploring our programs.
Their schedule for the upcoming year is as follows:

1. Virtual Rounds
Ideal if you’re exploring different medical specialties or this is your first time getting involved with HCCP. This program provides exposure to various disciplines and helps you understand the day-to-day responsibilities of healthcare professionals.
- Work through patient case studies
- Gain insight into multiple medical specialties
- Explore the origins and impacts of racial health inequities, and learn how to make a difference
- Grow foundational knowledge for future clinical experiences
2. Shadowing
Designed for individuals who have already completed Virtual Rounds and want hands-on clinical experience with healthcare providers. Option to choose from a variety of healthcare providers and specialties.
- Observe a variety of healthcare professionals in clinical settings
- Gain 20 hours of in-person shadowing
- Enhance your application for medical or PA school
- NOTE: Virtual Rounds is a prerequisite for Shadowing.
3. Mentorship
For students planning to apply to medical or PA school during the 2027 cycle. You will be matched with a mentor to support you through your application and help you develop professionally.
Develop a relationship with a medical professional

- Observe a variety of healthcare professionals in clinical settings
- Gain 20 hours of in-person shadowing
- Get support in writing your personal statement, secondaries, etc.
- Networking and professional development
4. iHuman
For students who have completed virtual rounds, iHuman is an excellent way to learn how clinical providers think. Using our virtual platform, sessions are led by an HCCP intern and medical professional to guide students through diagnosing and developing a treatment plan
- Think outside the box
- Experience how clinicians work through cases
- Diagnose and treat 10 virtual patients
5. Future Public Health Leaders
Have you ever wondered about potential career pathways in public health? Join us and learn from current leaders and professionals working in public health. As part of the program, you will develop a proposal for a public health community project and present it.
- Explore the pros and cons of public health as a career
- Network and learn from 9 public health professional
- Propose a community health initiative
