Applying to medical school can feel overwhelming, especially when so much advice is second-hand, outdated, or coming from people who have no clue how admissions decisions are actually made. This workshop is designed for community college and university premed students who want clear, honest guidance about how to be competitive for Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine and what it truly means to stand out. Lindia Willies-Jacobo, MD, FAAP, Senior Associate Dean for Admissions and Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity, and Agasia Lanier, MS, Senior Admissions Recruitment Specialist, will explain what the school is looking for in applicants, including academic preparation, service, leadership, lived experience, professionalism, and alignment with mission and values. They will also discuss how to present your story effectively across your application, secondary essays, and interviews without falling into common traps. You can come, ask your questions, and get answers directly from the source in a supportive, student-centered environment. Leave with stronger insight, renewed confidence, and concrete next steps to build an application that reflects both excellence and purpose.
