Handshake: Get Ready for Upcoming Career Fairs

Are you attending the upcoming In-Person or Virtual Career Fair? These events are great opportunities to connect with representatives from companies that align with your major, interests, and career goals.

Here are some tips to help you prepare to have a great career fair!

1. Do your research. Research the list of participating employers and their open roles. You can find a list of employers attending the In-Person and Virtual Career Fairs on Handshake.

2. Prepare your resume and fill in all parts of your Handshake profile.

3. Consider attending a webinar or workshop focused on career fair preparation.

4. Practice introducing yourself. Create a short elevator pitch to introduce yourself to employers. An elevator pitch is a short overview about your background, studies, and career goals. You can practice your pitch using Yoodli, an AI-powered communication coach free for UW students

5. Pick your outfit. Business casual is your best bet. You don’t need to wear a suit, but dress to impress. UW-Seattle students can visit the Career & Internship Center Career Closet, stocked with free, gently-used, workplace attire. Per quarter, students have the opportunity to take one full outfit + accessories (ties, belts, shoes, etc.).
