Student Stories: Maggie O’Brien

Go to the Career Center!

Before I started my senior year, I was panicking. Most graduates from the Public Health – Global Health Major end up earning post-secondary degrees, and I knew that was not in the cards for me. I had very little idea of what kind of jobs could intersect my academic backgrounds in health and data science, without needing more formal education. I went to the UW Career Center for advice, and, after chatting with Lily , she suggested that I look into consulting opportunities. Lily showed me how – even though I do not have a background in business – I was still qualified for these positions. And, within eight weeks of this meeting, I landed my current post-grad job!
