I’m thrilled to share that TechCongress has opened applications for our January 2026 Fellowships! We are looking to field up to 20 early and mid-career technologists who will serve as tech policy advisors to top Democrats and Republicans in Congress!
Since 2015, we’ve had 123 fellows serve in influential offices such as Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY).
Our fellows have also made an incredible impact on the institution, such as:
- Helping lead and co-organize numerous congressional hearings, such as a hearing about the potential threats to national security posed by advanced and emerging technologies, a hearing on US investment in semiconductor manufacturing with the CEOs of Intel and Micron, and the Snapchat, Tik Tok, YouTube Commerce Hearing about the impact their platforms have on children.
- Creating an e-Hopper to electronically submit legislation to Congress and Quill, a digital signature tool that is now fully operational in the House.
- Establishing a permanent House Digital Service in the House of Representatives.
- Supporting Senator Thune’s AI Research, Innovation and Accountability Act of 2023, a bipartisan collaboration with Senator Klobuchar, which would require companies to assess the impacts of AI and self-certify more risky safety.
- Contributing to The National Secure Data Service Act, signed into law as part of the CHIPS and Science Act, which creates a secure system for federal agencies to share data while protecting privacy.
For more on the accomplishments we supported, read our recently published 10-Year Impact Report marking a decade of helping Congress legislate some of the nation’s most complex technology issues. After serving in Congress, past fellows have stayed on the Hill, moved on to work in the private sector for other tech companies, or have stayed on in the political-adjacent realm of civil society, non-profits, and think tanks.
We’re recruiting through 7/2 and are hosting informational events throughout the next few weeks to give people the opportunity to meet the team, talk with fellows, and ask questions. Our next informational events will be on Tuesday, June 17, at 5:30pm (in-person and virtual) and Tuesday, June 24, from 11-12pm PST (virtual).
Moreover, we’re expanding our fellow profiles to include the following verticals: digital service delivery, climate tech, criminal justice, and space science. We encourage applicants with backgrounds in one or more of these areas to apply.
