Summer Health Professions Education Program: New initiative for pre-meds *Apply by 4/20

An excellent opportunity for pre-meds who identify as first-generation, are from underrepresented backgrounds, and plan to apply to medical school in 2027! You do not have to be a SHPEP participant to be part of this program!

The Summer Health Professions Education Program Longitudinal Enhancement (SHPEPLE) program is focused on professional development and peer support to help students planning to apply to medical school within the next 24 months.

It will require commitments to study groups, monthly lectures and study skills to help ensure you are well-prepared to be a competitive applicant to medical school. It will also offer additional opportunities for supporting your application to medical school.

At this time, we are only offering medical school applicant support, but hope to expand to support dental students in the future.

We are accepting 25 students into Cohort 2 or the 2025-2027 cohort. It will require a contract and commitment to full participation. The screening criteria (based on the grant) for the program include:

  • Plan to apply to medical school in the next 24 months
  • Identify as underrepresented in medicine
  • First generation college student

Application Closes: April 20, 2025 ; We will also be accepting applications on a rolling basis.

The application: https://forms.office.com/r/u7Uk6gppS5

Cohort 2 will begin in the Fall. An additional review cycle will be offered prior to the Fall.
