After graduating from UW, I landed an internship at Tableau, where I spent three years on their Community Marketing team. This role was my introduction to the power of data in marketing, sparking my love for analytics! A core part of my role was teaching Tableau workshops, which deepened my understanding of storytelling with data (and the importance of this in a career in marketing).
From there, I pivoted to Amazon Music, joining their Growth Marketing team—a dream role that blended my interests in media and music with my marketing skills. I learned about the subscription and media business, while working on large collaborations in media including the Amazon Music and Disney+ promotion.
After a few years, I took a leap and decided to travel full-time as a digital nomad with my husband! During this time, I started freelance marketing work and became a talent manager for influencers in the growing creator economy where I learned the ins-and-outs of the influencer marketing world. Those experiences ultimately inspired me to go full-time on my own marketing agency, Gosho Creative, where I now work with clients on their brand social through social media strategies, content, and influencer marketing campaigns.
My time at Amazon Music was my first time navigating a huge company while working on a scrappy, fast-paced team within a much larger organization. The “document culture” at Amazon challenged me to be incredibly clear and thoughtful in my thinking, which helped me sharpen my strategic and analytical skills. At the same time, our team was encouraged to experiment, which taught me how to balance data-driven decision-making with creative risk-taking. Amazon Music gave me the foundation I needed to lead confidently when I started my own agency.
The network I built at UW has been one of the most impactful resources in my career! My first role at Tableau came through a referral from a friend I met at UW. Even now as an entrepreneur, I work with contractors and collaborators who are part of my UW network. It’s a great reminder that your peers can become your biggest advocates and collaborators down the road.
With over 8 years in marketing, I launched Gosho Creative to help all sorts of clients from founders of startups to enterprise clients navigate today’s social-first marketing landscape. Marketing is now deeply rooted in social media and the creator economy, and my goal is to help brands leverage influencer marketing, social media strategy, and content to stand out.
It took about a year of experimenting with different clients and projects to refine my focus. By applying the trial-and-error mindset and data-driven decision-making I honed at Tableau and Amazon Music, I was able to craft a service offering tailored to the evolving needs of modern marketing.
