LinkedIn is worldwide platform to grow and share your professional journey. As an artist, visibility is key! Below are ways to use LinkedIn to grow your network, content, and find opportunities.
General Searches🔍:
- Type key words into the search bar like “Artist“, “Graphic Designer”, “Movie” and press enter.
- Select the “People” filter
- Scroll through and find connections!

- With the same search, click the “Groups” filter
- Look into the groups you can join based off your interest
- Request to join! This will allow you have access to all posts from the members and access to connect.

UW Searches:
- Go to the University of Washington’s page (and follow)
- Select the “Alumni” section
- Type in a key word like “Artist” and press enter
- Check out the list of UW connections and connect!
Cold Message Example: Hi [Name], I’m a fellow artist and a UW student. I admire your career path and would love to connect to learn more about your journey in the art world. Thanks!

- Create a post with your projects where you share the purpose, style methods and what you learned. Use hashtags to your advantage!
- Share event/projects/symposiums you participate in that are relevant to your career!
- Click the 💼 “Jobs” icon on the top right
- Type in an industry key word (i.e. “Graphic Design”) and select your location
- Filter using:
- Experience Level
- Date Posted (Past month, past week or past 24 hours)
- Consider the other filters if needed
- Type your industry key work in the “Search” area
- Filter using:
- “People” and check out what companies they work for. Select the company and see if they have jobs posted on their business page.
- “Groups” and request to join. Once you do, you will see posts about the topic including internship/job opportunities
- “Posts” to see related posts and opportunities open
