Handshake: Upskill Your Summer

It’s almost summer break, Huskies! If you don’t have a job or internship lined up, there are still plenty of opportunities to build job skills and explore new career paths. Check out these free resources that can help you develop some great resume-boosting skills this summer.

Volunteer Projects

United Way of King County is a great place to look for local volunteer opportunities and help your community. You can also reach out to nonprofit organizations directly and ask about ways to help over the summer.

If you’re looking for an on-campus volunteer opportunity, the UW Farm has three locations and needs help harvesting produce especially during summer.

Micro-Internships with Forage

Forage is a free and open-access online library of employer-designed job simulations. Develop your skills and gain a real understanding of different roles and sectors by working through self-paced modules, tackling tasks that mirror what you’d do if you were a real employee for that company. You can check out the programs and sign up here.
