GAP YEAR JOB/TRAVEL OPPORTUNITY FOR FEMALE PRE-MED AND PRE-HEALTH GRADUATES BEGINNING JANUARY 2024

Dr. Meaghan Wilson is a quadriplegic physician living in Orange County, California, just south of Los Angeles. She previously worked in inpatient medicine, but is now working from home to start her own private telemedicine practice. As a result of her disability, she unable to use her hands and requires assistance with her daily nursing care and clinical work. She has been hiring and training undergraduate students and recent graduates to assist her with these tasks throughout my medical training and early career.

THE ADVERTISEMENT FOR GAP YEAR OPPORTUNITIES FROM DR. WILSON:
“I hire four live-in assistants at a time, and each helps me for an average of 30 daytime hours per week with the time split between morning/evening nursing shifts and daytime personal assistant/clinical shifts (no experience required; you receive paid training when you start).

I currently have one 5 or 6-month long position becoming available this January, and four 12-month long positions becoming available in June/July 2024. Your compensation would include an individual room in my home, a shared bathroom, access to the common areas and yard, and a monthly stipend. There will be opportunities for the top candidates to meet with me, my current assistants, and each other over Zoom before committing to this position.

I think this is a unique gap year opportunity for adventurous graduates looking to travel and explore a beautiful and diverse part of the country while also gaining two different types of healthcare experience in a relaxed environment: providing hands-on assistance with my nursing care and also helping me with patient telemedicine work once my business gets started. The reasonable number of working hours per week should also give ample opportunity for MCAT studying, interview trips, and leisure activities.

If interested, please email me ASAP at CaliMeg03@gmail.com and I will send you more information. Looking forward to hearing from you soon!”
