Note: Post-Bacc programs can serve as excellent options for those pursuing the professional health realm who do not immediately get accepted to graduate programs and/or want to strengthen their grades while receiving wraparound support.
The UC Davis Health Professions Post-Bac Program application will open April 1 for our January 2024 cohort! Our Round 1 deadline is April 30th followed by our Round 2 deadline on May 31st. Higher priority and consideration will be given to applicants who apply before the above deadlines. The final application due date is July 15th on PostBacCAS.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM: UC Davis’ unique 12-month academic enhancing post-bac program is designed for those pursuing any health profession. Students will take roughly 45 units of upper-division science coursework taught by UC Davis faculty from January 2024-December 2025. Students will have access to wraparound advising and test prep services upon completion of the program. An academic plan will be created with an advisor based on previous coursework completed, needed coursework and student interests. An agreed upon one-year plan will be completed at the Program Orientation.
Test preparation, including books for the MCAT, GRE, DAT, TEAS, or OAT is built into the program at no additional cost. Our students are also provided with intense application preparation to help them showcase the value they bring to the healthcare field. In addition, students will take seminar courses in Learning & Test Taking Strategies, Narrative Medicine, Medical Terminology & Application Preparation.
Students will select one of three tracks: Clinical, Research or Health Equity/One Health. During the summer quarter, students will become EMT trained, join a research lab or participate in a hands-on public health learning opportunity.
Students who need to repeat General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry or Physics will be allowed to repeat ONE course in each of those areas. We call these “Reinforcement Courses”. Other possible course selections include but are not limited to: Genetics, Cell Biology, Advanced Physiology, Cancer Biology, Immunology, Clinical Hematology, Microbiology, and more. Check out our website and brochure to learn more.
Successful applicants to this program should possess an overall GPA between 2.8 and 3.2.
