UW Medicine’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) is hiring 1-2 undergraduate students to help in the Maternal Fetal Medicine research division. Students will work mostly with Dr. Kachikis, Dr. Shree, and Dr. McCartney, but there are opportunities to work with other perinatal researchers in our division. Dr. Kachikis’ research focuses on infections and vaccines in pregnancy. Dr. Shree works primarily on understanding the reproductive origins of adult disease, specifically cardiovascular disease after preeclampsia. Dr. McCartney’s work focuses on immunology in the maternal-fetal placental interface.
This is a great starting position for students interested in healthcare, especially for someone thinking of a gap year to gain more experience.
