UPREP Informational and Interactive Session for Students Interested in MD/PhD Combined Programs

UPREP Session: (open to any student interested in MD/PhD – not just University of Washington students)

UPREP and The University of Washington’s Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) are co-hosting a virtual event on Jan 3 at 6:30 PM (Pacific Time) for students interested in dual MD/PhD programs and career paths as a physician-scientist. This workshop will focus on “How to Get a Quality Research Experience”.

We will discuss how to get started and find a research experience, how to succeed in the lab, and how this can prepare you for an MD/PhD program. Some topics and questions we will address:

  • What do admissions directors look for in an MD/PhD research experience?
  • Is it better to have several short research experiences or one long research experience?
  • Do I need to have a publication to get into an MD/PhD program?

This event will be interactive and include both a presentation on research experiences and a student panel/breakout rooms so that you can get your questions answered.

Register here to get an email for the Zoom link to the session. Please feel free to invite interested friends and classmates to attend! The session will NOT be recorded.

If you have any questions, please email Kirsten (kathomps@uw.edu), Jenny (jnathans@uw.edu), and Natasha (niedman@uw.edu).
