Upcoming Opportunities from the Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship

Check out the following events and programs hosted by Foster’s Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship:

APPLICATIONS AND DEADLINES

Apply: I-CORPS Customer Discovery Funding

Each year dozens of founders and innovators at the Univ. of Washington are able to find out if their ideas have commercial potential by taking advantage of the NSF I-Corp Customer Discovery program offered by our friends at UW CoMotion and WE-REACH. Students must submit their interest in the program by Sunday, December 5 to be eligible for a $2,500 grant.

Apply: Prototype Funding Application

Prototype funding can spur development and help convey your idea to a broader audience. We have funding available to teams that are entering the Hollomon Health Innovation Challenge and/or the Alaska Airlines Environmental Innovation Challenge this year to help with creating a physical model, object, or device. Student teams are invited to apply for funds that can be used to purchase materials or components, or rent equipment necessary for demonstrating the team idea. Funds are NOT available to pay team members or consultants or hire short-term workers with high level skills beyond the team’s capacity. Learn more and apply here!

Funding is open to students working in a technical, medical, consumer, environmental, digital, or another field. Awards are typically between $500 – $2,500. Application Deadline: December 6th

Apply: Entrepreneurship Certificate (non-MBA graduate students)

Open to all non-MBA graduate and PhD students.

The Buerk Center’s Technology Entrepreneurship Certificate prepares University of Washington graduate and PhD students for the world of start-ups and new technology enterprises. Our emphasis on cross-campus involvement means you’ll take entrepreneurship courses alongside students from other disciplines, work with UW inventors on their market-ready applications, and have the opportunity to apply for fellowships in UW technology ventures or local angel funds. Certificate students, whose disciplines range from engineering and architecture to drama and medicine, take classes, gain real-world experience, and network with the region’s most innovative entrepreneurs. Working together, students bring ideas to life. Rolling admissions.
