New Phishing Alert – Spring 2021

We have become aware of a new phishing scam targeting students at the University of Washington.

These scam email messages will appear to come from a “uw.edu” email address, with a variety of subject lines, one being “Job Offer Letter.” The individuals claim to be UW professors offering roles as interns or assistants. Scam email messages have been sent by individuals claiming to be Dr. Andrew Ainsworth and Professor Charley Heskett.

These are NOT legitimate emails or opportunities and are attempts to gain access to sensitive information  – if you receive one of these emails, please:

  • Send the message (as an attachment) to reportedspam@cac.washington.edu.
